Lela Zainal coaches tennis at Elevate.
Formerly Singapore women’s number 1 tennis player, she was also the first Singaporean pro tennis player with a world ranking on the WTA tour. She represented Singapore in the Federation Cup, Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, ITF Junior World Tennis Tour, ASEAN School Games and other international tournaments.
With a background in counselling psychology, Lela coaches special-needs children and adults. She has also trained Shaheed Alam, Singapore’s current men’s number 1 and an ATP-ranked player, as a junior who competed in the Davis Cup as the tournament’s youngest-ever player at 15 years old.
Among others she has coached: Myanmar’s former junior and women’s number 1 player, Nilar Win, who competed in the Junior ITF and SEA Games; Malaysia’s national women’s and Federation Cup team; and Methodist Girls’ School, which was the runner-up in the National School Games 2021.
